Jasmine Louis
Founder and CEO
Jasmine Louis is the founder and CEO of Mutual Rise, a values-driven organization grounded in dignity, equity, and practical support for people experiencing housing insecurity. Originally from Washington, DC, Jasmine earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Temple University, studying journalism, photography, and film in both Philadelphia and Tokyo. She taught English and interned at The Japan Times while living in Japan for the final two years of college.
Her journey of service took her to Ecuador with the Peace Corps, where she continued teaching English, deepening her connection to grassroots impact. Upon returning to the U.S., Jasmine pursued her Master of Fine Arts in Digital Design at Howard University, focusing on mobile app design, 3D animation, and digital marketing.
After working in edu-tech and creating online content for top-tier universities, Jasmine’s path took a transformative turn during the pandemic. Laid off and seeking to escape the rat race, she sold her home and 90% of her belongings to travel solo across the country in a truck camper with her dog Claire. For six months, she lived off-grid in solitude—immersing herself in nature, minimalism, and hands-on workshops in earthen and tiny home construction. This time deepened her understanding of abundance and the pressing need for systems that ensure everyone has access to life’s essentials.
Now based in California, Jasmine works as a marketing consultant in green energy and affordable housing while leading Mutual Rise. She speaks English, Spanish and Japanese, and is learning Mandarin. Her life’s mission is rooted in service, human connection, and the belief that everyone deserves to have their needs met—no exceptions!
